Two months now, into my move South
Some observations and experiences from being back in the region I grew up in
It’s been a long time since I lived where I can see snow on the hills
and I love it
After living in the tropical North for a long time
Those earthquakes that wake me up
they are familiar, hearing the shaking before I feel it
I don’t freak out- well yet, growing up in Wellington gave me a lot of experience with them
Living in a little coastal westcoast town -Ōtaki - where many people speak Te Reo Māori language- is beautiful
Like it’s common here to korero (speak) Māori - this warms my heart.
Being on my ancestral lands, I feel so held
and being close to and near my whanau (family, children) and old friends
Its everything- I am so blessed
Minus 3 degrees last week as the snow fell on the hills
I’ll often drive to the beach to walk and enjoy the sunset, this day last week was especially magical with the Full Moon, sunset and all the views.
